The next time you sit down with your travel advisor make sure to ask them about Sint Eustatius. Why, you might ask. St. Eustatius just received prime coverage in the new issue of trade travel magazine, The American Societies of Travel Advisors (ASTA) Worldwide Destination Guide. With the full back page plus two double-page spreads in the magazine, the island might want to prepare for a rush of tourists.

Charles Lindo, Tourism Director of St. Eustatius Tourism Development Foundation, highlights the island’s attractions: underwater marine parks studded with shipwrecks, living coral reefs teeming with sea life, historical sites for archeological digs. This is a place to hike over arid vistas then into the rainforest of a dormant volcano, to trod on beaches where you might visit with sea turtles, and venture into forests that house rare Antillean iguana.

The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is the largest connector of travel advisors and professionals in the world. Its over 25,000 members include travel agencies, suppliers, tour operators, and more. A feature in ASTA’s glossy publication advocates for and raises awareness of the locale. The publication also signals credibility and professionalism.

The magazine’s Destination profile features a brief history of the island, details the town of Oranjestad, outlines local festivals, and touches on everyone’s favorite topic—food. The section, All You Need to Know, offers just that, ensuring that the travel industry will have pertinent details at the ready. These articles will spread the word of the island’s many must-visit locales.

Tourism’s Director Lindo reminds readers that the island is one of the rare places in the Caribbean that is not overrun by mass tourism—a huge plus for many travelers today. He sums up the island as, “a safe, peaceful and tranquil location in which to enjoy the beauty of the natural world.” With coverage like this, local tourism outlets on the island can look towards the future with promise.
