My cruise onboard the Holland American Rotterdam was fun but not great. The Rotterdam is a beautiful ship, in fact more “traditional. If you are looking for the bells and whistles like Royal Caribbean, Carnival & Norwegian, this is not the ship for you. Our Itinerary was:
SUN 10APR22 Sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida
MON 11APR22 Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. (This was cancelled due to electrical issues at Half Moon Cay, and the Captain redirected the ship to Bimini.)
TUE 12APR22 Sea Day
WED 13APR22 Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos
THU 14APR22 Amber Cove, Dominican Republic
FRI 15APR22 Sea Day
SAT 16APR22 Key West, Florida
SUN 17APR22 Debark Ship Fort Lauderdale, Florida
The cabins are beautiful and spacious, their onboard entertainment (Billboard, Rolling Stone and BB Kings) was really good, and their concept of rotating the entertainment (times between each venue), gives you enough time to enjoy each venue every night. The food in the main dining room and Lido deck was very good as well. I had dinner one night in one of their Specialty Restaurants “Tamarin” which is Asian and it was amazing.
I will say I was not a fan of the following:
- Smoking in the Casino.
- Their Internet service was not good, very slow. I prefer Vroom from Royal Caribbean
- Their Specialty Coffee shop closed at 10:30PM. Not good for late night coffee drinkers.
- Their Pizza shop closed at 12 midnight.
- The Lido (Buffet area) closed around 11PM
- The World Stage/Their main theater. I like the circular concept, but there is room for improvement.
