In a significant development for regional aviation, Caribbean and Frontier Airlines have announced the addition of new routes connecting San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Trinidad. This move is set to enhance connectivity within the Caribbean and bolster tourism and business opportunities between the English-speaking and Spanish-speaking parts of the region.

Frontier is set to commence operations of its new route on July 11, 2024, offering nonstop service between San Juan and Port of Spain, Trinidad. The airline will operate three weekly flights using its Airbus A320 aircraft, with introductory fares starting as low as $291. This initiative is part of Frontier’s broader strategy to establish a robust network within the Caribbean, leveraging its hub in San Juan.

The new service is not only expected to provide affordable travel options but also to facilitate greater access to Frontier’s extensive network of flights from various cities across the mainland US that connect to San Juan. Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design at Frontier Airlines, expressed excitement about the new service, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to supporting the thriving tourism industry in Puerto Rico.

Following closely, Caribbean Airlines will begin its service on July 14, 2024, operating three flights per week from Trinidad to San Juan via Barbados. Subject to approval from relevant authorities, this route will also include cargo services, reflecting the airline’s strategy to increase business and tourism links within the Caribbean.

Garvin Medera, CEO of Caribbean Airlines, highlighted the importance of the new route, stating that it is a crucial part of the airline’s growth strategy and commitment to providing convenient and reliable travel and trade options for customers.
