Bonaire, a Dutch Caribbean island, has recently announced a partnership with Winair, a regional airline based in St. Maarten. The partnership aims to increase the connectivity and accessibility of Bonaire for tourists and traders from other islands and countries in the Caribbean.

According to the Bonaire Tourism Corporation (BTC), the partnership will offer more flight options and frequencies to Bonaire from St. Maarten, Curacao, Aruba, and other destinations. This will benefit both leisure and business travelers, as well as the local economy and culture of Bonaire.

Winair, which has been operating since 1961, is known for its reliability, safety, and customer service. The airline has a fleet of 10 aircraft, including Twin Otters, ATR 42s, and ATR 72s. Winair operates flights to 15 destinations in the Caribbean, including Anguilla, Antigua, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Saba, St. Barths, St. Eustatius, St. Kitts, and Tortola.

The partnership between Bonaire and Winair is expected to start in the first quarter of 2024, subject to regulatory approvals and market conditions. The BTC and Winair will work together to promote Bonaire as a destination of choice for travelers looking for a diverse and authentic Caribbean experience.

Bonaire is known for its natural beauty, rich history, and cultural diversity. The island offers a variety of attractions and activities for visitors of all ages and interests, such as diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, kite surfing, kayaking, hiking, biking, birdwatching, caving, museums, art galleries, festivals, and cuisine.

The island has been designated as a Blue Destination by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), which recognizes destinations that balance tourism development with environmental protection. The destination has also been awarded the Gold Quality Coast Award by the European Coastal and Marine Union (EUCC), which honors destinations that excel in coastal management, nature preservation, cultural heritage preservation, social responsibility, and safety.

The partnership is a welcome development for both parties and for the Caribbean region as a whole. It will create new opportunities for tourism and trade, as well as foster closer ties and cooperation among the islands. It will also showcase the best of what Bonaire has to offer.
