Alaska Airlines has announced that it will launch new flights to the Bahamas starting from December 2023. The flights will operate four times a week from Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco, and will offer convenient connections to other destinations in the US and Canada.

The Bahamas is a popular destination for travelers looking for sun, sand and sea, as well as rich culture and history. The archipelago consists of more than 700 islands, cays and islets, each with its own unique charm and attractions. Some of the most visited places include Nassau, the capital city, Grand Bahama, home to the Lucayan National Park and Freeport, and the Exumas, known for their pristine beaches and swimming pigs.

“We are thrilled to share in the anticipation of Alaska Airlines’ inaugural flight to the pristine shores of the Bahamas, opening a treasure trove of experiences for travellers,” said Bahamas Prime Minister Hon. Philip E. Davis. “For those looking to escape to our enchanting white beaches, turquoise waters and vibrant culture, this new connection provides an effortless path. We can’t wait to extend our warm Bahamian welcome to the visitors from afar, ushering in a new chapter of tourism and cultural exchange. We welcome and look forward to this new partnership.”

Alaska Airlines said that the new flights will provide more options and flexibility for its customers, as well as boost tourism and trade between the two countries. The flights will be operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, featuring Alaska’s signature service and amenities, such as free inflight entertainment, Wi-Fi, power outlets and complimentary snacks and drinks.

Alaska Airlines said that it is excited to expand its network to the Bahamas, and hopes to welcome more travelers onboard its new flights soon.
